This is by far my favorite Kentucky Vineyard.
It can be a tricky drive getting there, since G. Maps wants to take you the 'fast' route, but it puts you on a teeny-tiny back country road, but there is a far better route. > From I-64, take exit 53A toward Lawrenceburg onto US-127 South. > Turn left onto McCormick Rd. > Turn right onto Hammond Rd. > Then you can trust your phone map! You want to be sure you are arriving with the winery on your RIGHT. If you happen to drive the other way, PLEASE WATCH OUT FOR DEER. I came upon one just standing in the road (as they do) and thankfully it was me and not some Yee-Haw in a “Dually” (Hillbilly talk!) who would run it over for sport. But the sun was in my eyes and the little deer was barely visible. Of course I stopped and told it not to stand on the road - and, of course, it listened! -lol. When you arrive at Lover’s Leap, the ONE thing that puts me off, even though I understand why, is that they don’t allow dogs. Since my dog is my favorite traveling companion, we have to plan our pee stops prior to arriving. Not too hard to do, but still inconvenient. I would love to be able to take her for a walk around their grounds like we do in so many other vineyards. NOW for the WINE! I can honestly say (and frankly that’s how I will always speak, whether liked or not – honestly) ALL their wines are good, REAL wine. To my understanding they make their wines with as little additives as possible – and you can tell the difference. It’s real wine like you would find in California or France. Really! My top two that I return to again and again are the Riesling and the Syrah. Both very quaffable and reliably delicious. They also offer a Wine & CHOCOLATE tasting! Overall, it’s a nice drive out. You are welcomed warmly. Their wines are reliably solid, good wines. It has a beautiful view overlooking the vineyard and gorgeous countryside! Plus, their T-shirts are cute and comfortable!
